PSP to buy OR not!

i saw it a few days at a friends house and it looks real cool.
until a few days i would not buy it because the on 2.0 psp you couldn't play hacked stuff, but now thats people did a downgrade i really dont know if to buy it or not... its alot of money!

what you guys think?

Hmmm but its not the same... its portable and thats all the beauty you can take a great game console to where ever you go... and the Xbox360 gonna cost 400$ or something i dunno it has crazy prices
 
Well if your planning on getting a psp and going to hack it, your going to need a pro duo memory stick 512/1gb for it too. it all depends on how much you wanna spend on it.
 
PSP is pretty useful as an mp3 player, portable tv, and portable console so it has alot of great potential but right now there arent too many games out for psp and for some games the controls really suck on the psp

id wait for it to mature a little bit more before going into buying one unless you just want one really quick because your afraid they will come up with framework over 2.0 that people would never make a downgrade for to allow homebrewing

besides right now most psps sell for $200-$250 so id wait for it to go around the $150-$200 range before id seriously buy one
 
My friend just bought one and really likes it.
 
A PSP is great! I have both a Nintendo DS and a Sony PSP. And I can tell you, the DS is for children, the PSP is the real thing. Great graphics, great games and great (porn)movies.

I would get the Sony PSP. I bought one when it first came out over here and it was firware 1.5 on it. I have a 1 gig memory stick for all my homebrew apps and games.

Cool thing is I have almost every game available for the PSP and most of them are playable from the memory stick with the UMD Emulator program.

Most people could not do this because they either bought the PSP late. Any PSP with firwmare over 1.5 could not run any homebrew. Its great now because of the downgrade because you can have the 2.0 features like browser and AVC and if you get tired of it downgrade back to 1.5 for the homebrew and games.

The Devs are working on making an modified firmware with 2.0 features so you can homebrew and still have the browser with AVC playback. Soon we won't have to downgrade. :biggrin:
 
I, personally, would not recommend the PSP. It is a waste of money at the moment as it barely as any movies(i'm talking about LEGAL movies) and it would be a waste of money to play your old PS games. Meh, waste of money atm.
 
I would recommended. But cost alot of money for the PSP and memory stick if you want homebrew. If you want PS2 games on the go then get it. Alot new games come out for on both PS2 and PSP. :top:
 
I just read about an interesting hack that maybe bypasses the crippled resolution Sony forces on Memory Stick video media. See hxxp://www.psphacks.net/content/view/52/2/ .
 
PSP's are cool, you can download most games for them now so no need to spend xtra cash!!!
 
I have a PSP and i think its a very cool thing :)

But you can not compare a psp with a ps3 oder the new x-box..thats bullshit...its a nice handheld when u travel or have abig break :smile:

PSP seems cool so far..... I am going to bide my time though... still a few things that annoy me about it. like memory sticks as the only storage.

It'd be great if you could connect compact flash cards, they are much cheaper... I didn't buy a sony camera until they supported compact flash. cheap storage media is a big draw card for alot of people I think.

I dunno... plbeing able to play burnout on a train will probably make me give in and buy one eventually.. but for now I will stay away..
 
i bought it because it's the best portable game system out there as of current. I'm not a big fan of gaming, so whenever I'm traveling I'll just play with it.
 
not many legal movies? hah, if your into encoding you can encode your own movies for it. and ahem, pirate all the games. good buy if you can afford it, wish i could all i have is a creative nomad zen xtra for portable toys =(

and lol that really old sega nomad that played genesis games
 
Since, you waited this long, wait until the burners and blanks comes out for UMDs. It shouldn't take too long now. Then you could compress your dvd movies, instead of thinking about buying those expensive memory sticks. By then there will probably be a modchip.
