I came across this a few days ago & it works great, it should save you some time & frustration

Many files/movies/clips posted on websites are broken into many pieces using WinRAR. usually you have to download all parts before unzipping.

Now here’s a simple method to watch the movie without downloading all parts. First, download the first few parts (even just the first part is enough) and start to unzip as normal (but remember to check the ‘keep broken files’ check box first in the dialog box !!!).

Now use VLCPlayer

Code:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

to watch the movie!!! (of course, only the downloaded part will be watchable ;-)

In the mayhem of “Da Vinci code ” movie many ppl downloaded 700++ MB documentaries which were named as davinci.part1.rar etc etc .After horrible hours of downloading the only thing they got was extreme frustration(some stepped ahead breaking the monitors).

Bottom Line : This is just a trick to know weather u r downlading the right thing or not

This program has been used by emule users for a LONG time... I remember using it ever since 0.30e. It basically plays almost every video file possible, as long as you have the codec.

Can't believe I never though about this before, Thanks for the info.

Always i try to extract a rar file (file.r#)open this window: "Extracting volume is required".
And yes i checked "keep broken files".

nice, thanx :top:

VLC player is the king. It can play anything and its free. Wonder when "professional" software that costs money can do that?

the only issue i have with this player is it seems to be quite a resource hog.. after i 'X' it, it takesa ard 30 sec for it to reaaly shut down

You don't need codecs to play video files with VLC, and iirc eMule used to use AVI Preview.

VLC Media Player is the best media player. No doubt

u can also use MPlayer for this. both vlc n Mplayer do NOT need any codecs installed on your pc. they come with their codec packs which will play almost all known file types. have been doin this for files from rapidshare as well

Its used by emule for long time already,
didnt new it was also working with rar files
Thanx for the info
Will try this later
