Just finished watching this, and I must say, I've thought of 2007 to be a rather dull film year, but october has really changed things. 3 10 To Yuma, and now this. American Gangster is probably best defined as a solid mix between The Godfather, Scarface and Blow; It's not as well written as Godfather 1, It's not as bold as Scarface, but it's not as dumb as Blow. It's stylish, it's dark, it's like the Empire Strikes Back of Mafia-flicks.
