- To detect and configure the INTEL 845 chipset and 855 chipset.
The following ThinkPad computers are supported:
- ThinkPad R40
- ThinkPad R50(*1)/R50p(*1)
- ThinkPad R51 (Machine Type 1829, 1830, 1831, 1836, 1840, 1841)(*1)(*2)
- ThinkPad T40/T40p/T41/T41p/T42/T42p(*1)
- ThinkPad X31/X32
Notes:
- (*1) Only Windows 2000/XP are supported.
- (*2) Machine Type 2883, 2887, 2888, 2889, 2894 and 2895 of ThinkPad R51 family are not supported.
- If you use the Product Recovery function shipped with your ThinkPad to restore the Microsoft Windows preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows Operating Systems without the Product Recovery function.
- This program is based on the US version but, this is language independent and can be used with any language system.

Installation instructions
INFINST_AUTOL.exe
Apply this program to enumerate INTEL chipset correctly after installing base operating system with each supplement files.
1. Close any running applications.
2. Run the InstallShield installation program in the INTELINF directory.
* Windows XP/2000: INFINST_autol.exe
* Windows 98SE: INFINST_autol.exe -a -USB2
3. You will be prompted to agree to the license agreement. If you do not agree, the Installer will exit before extracting any files. 4. Follow the on screen instructions and use the default settings to complete the setup, once the operating system has rebooted.
5. This completes the installation of the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility.
