how to get back 20% of connection speed

a bulit in fit4er in windows xp take 20% precent of conection speed for usless operation here we will take them back

1. start

2. run

3. gpedit.msc

4. Administrative Templates --> Network--> QoS Packet Scheduler --> Limit reservable bandwidth.

5. chek to Enabled and choose settings ande in Bandwidth limit change to -0

6. apply

7. restart

I've read somewhere that this tweak is for win xp pro only, dunno if QoS Packet Scheduler doesn't exist in the home version or if you just can't set a value for it

As I know, a DSL / broadband -connection can't "give" more speed than we want of our provider, e.g. DSL 1000 = 1000 kbit/s : 8 = 125 kb/s.

For the german users, because they understand that program, i highly recommend "DFÜ-Speed". It optimizes your connection within one click.

For the english: Install the programm after you downloaded it, start it and select your connection by clicking on the specified button. Restart your PC after the changes are done and be happy

thread probably got moved by german mod... this really isn't useful at all. i've noticed no difference in lowering the QoS or raising it, nobody else has either. afaik some tweak guru just discovered this tweak randomly and started spreading it everywhere without anyone testing it, then again it couldn't hurt

This is one thing you have to modify everytime you format your PC and, in my case, I forget to write down always so I never know how to do it and I have to search in google everytime xD
Sometimes we drown our system because we have multimple connections thenks to emule,bittorrent,... so we can't navigate for example, so, perhaps, Microsoft implemented this option to reserve bandwidth to run internal programs and connections.

QOS packet scheduler has no impact on throughput. This is well known. You can disable process, but gives back much less than 1% of CPU.

Uhm.... this is not a really tweak...
20% of your connection speed is only reserved if you use for example Windows Update at the same time... not all the time, and its a good idea, because a critical update is a priority (in windows of course)
This "tweak" appear in 2001...

this is a myth, it does not make any difference unless windows itself is doing something, such as windows update. i leave it at 20%, because windows updates are important to maintain safety on your pc.
