The NY post reports that, hungry for new cash, the 3 major networks might start selling on-demand viewing of hit shows next season for $1 a peek, without the commercials. Viewers could also choose to watch shows for as little as $0.50 per show if they let commercials run in full, keeping advertisers partially satisfied and letting couch potatoes enjoy their customary snack breaks. On-demand viewing, while commonplace on cable TV, is so revolutionary for ABC, CBS and NBC primetime programs that the networks are struggling in boardrooms from New York to Hollywood on how to make it happen under the "old-media" model.

Now we all can only get shows for free as the networks have not yet offered them for download. How much would you pay to have a subscription so that you could download the shows you wanted. I imagine that you could then pick any episode.

I would be willing to pay to just get when I wanted and be able to pick the quality.

I am pretty sure it will catch on like iTunes. People at first thought that no one would buy iTunes as they can get it all for free but people do want to support the creators or course and now over 1 billion iTunes have been sold.

Would you pay $1 a show or more or less?

Simple answer: No.
I would not pay for things I could just watch for free. Seriously, why would I want to get them richer?

You would pay if you did not live where they played the show or if you were not at home of it was on when you did not want to watch.

Popular shows get 10,000 or more downloads and many are from countries that do not play the show.

The other reason for paying woule be to be able to burn to DVD to keep for watching again -- only important for really good shows

hmmm...

if
time = money
and
downloading takes time
then
downloading for a few hours = a lot of money

so if I take a few hours to get the stuff,
according to this thinking Ill be paying for it..

ain't Aristotle analytic logic great...? :shockkk!:

ie. I would never pay for downloads...

if it's that cheap and if its watch whenever i want with those new stuff they got for cable (and i think satelite) then i think i would pay for it too. no more than $5 per month extra on top of my bill.

I would pay $.25 for a good commercial free DL at HD-DVD quality.

And how do you know this? Since I live in a dorm and I did not want to bring my TV along with me, I download the episodes ;).

I'd pay if the links were super fast, only downside of p2p is slower speeds then server>client transfers. If they put up super fast servers at a great rate and full quality.

es kommt auf den download an.
für filme würde ich nicht bezahlen, da gehe ich lieber ins kino.

i personally wouldn't mind paying to get episodes as long as they were released quickly and at decent speeds ... wots the point otherwise?

in england we pay a "tv licence"

in essence this means we can't own a tv without paying a licence fee every year! but what it actually does is pay for the bbc.

if we want cable/satellite we have to pay for that seperately!!!

plus they also show adverts....

:shockkk!:

I would never pay for downloads!

I would pay absolutely nothing.

is it just me or is there all this hype about p2p when most people used to wait to tape their favourite movie off of tv?

I mean i never used to buy videos. id tape the movies on the movie channels.

Rather some small monthly fee or preferably nothing!

I would not pay anything.

Especially if there are adverts.

Unlikely scenario and 25 cents is pittens. Merchandise such as DVD's etc. will have their rates dropped.

If the situation does arise, I might consider it but the companies are far too miserly to let it happen.
