Hello, wierd question maybe but I was wondering what methods there are to damaging a flatscreen computer TFT monitor in such a way that it would be covered by the warranty.

Interesting question. THat really depends on your warranty which I would just read up at your vendor's website. It depends how long your warrenty period is too, of course.
In general only production faults are covered by warranty (broken condensators, capacitors). Also "broken" pixels are not always covered because i remember 10 as a number of pixels which are allowed to break (stay in one color at all times) for a whole monitor, but those numbers differ from vendor to vendor.

I guess there is no real way of damaging your TFT without anybody noticing you put hands on it. MAgnets work pretty good, but you would need a strong one. And magnets can leave traces too... How would you explain the damage you cause...

LCD is not easy to damage. The best thing to damage it is to put it under circumstances, that are not advised such as heat, frost, near to electrical devices etc.

it's ironic how fragile they can be and at the same time so durable.
